Government Affairs Committee Meeting
Please come out for our March Government Affairs Committee meeting where we will be discussing a fresh slate of interesting issues!
Please come out for an important discussion about the California Tax on Commercial and Industrial Properties for Education and Local Government Funding Initiative otherwise known as the "Split Roll" Initiative which will be on the November 2020 ballot. This Proposition would undue Proposition 13 as to many commercial properties and would tax property based on fair-market value—rather than, under current law, the purchase price with limited inflation. We will have an informative discussion with presenters represented both sides of the discussion.
The California Retailers Association will have a presentation about a new draft City of Los Angeles ordinance that would impose predictive scheduling on retailers and restaurants, requiring them to give schedules to workers a certain number of days in advance of their shift, or face penalties. We will also have a separate update on AB 5 which impacts the classification of independent contractors and employees.
Jennings Imel, Executive Director, Western Regional Office Congressional and Public Affairs Division, U.S. Chamber of Commerce will present on new business incentives and tax credits that businesses should take advantage of this year as well as other federal business updates.
Last, but not least, we will have a discussion and wrap up of the results of the March 3, 2020 primary elections as well as the Beverly Hills City Council elections.
This meeting will be an excellent opportunity to interact with key officials and learn about the important issues impacting our City and region and to provide your input! Please join us!
