Government Affairs Committee Meeting
For the May Government Affairs Committee meeting, representatives from LA Metro will present the latest updates on construction of Sections 1 and 2 of the Purple Line Subway Extension in Beverly Hills. Significant construction is coming to the intersection of Wilshire and La Cienega this year. Additionally, work is also starting this year on Section 2 including a station at Wilshire and Reeves Drive. This meeting will provide an important opportunity to learn the latest.
The Government Affairs Committee will discuss ACA 11, a proposed constitutional amendment to increase taxes on retailers by 1/4 cent. Additionally, the Committee will discuss Assembly Bill 5, the Opportunity to Work Act which would impact hiring for most businesses.
Ashley Dominguez, Special Projects & Events Supervisor
at the Office of Congressman Ted Lieu, will provide an update on important federal legislative activity.
Lila Kilaf, District Representative for State Senator Ben Allen, will be updating the group on important legislative developments in California.
Cameron Onumah from the Office of US Senator Diane Feinstein will provide an update on the Senator's legislative focus.
And Jennings Imel from the United States Chamber of Commerce will provide the group information about important business issues impacting our community.
