Government Affairs Committee Meeting
Please come out for our June Government Affairs Committee meeting where we will be discussing a fresh slate of interesting issues!
We will discuss important news and updates from the City of Beverly Hills, including the COVID-19 response and new updates on City related business matters. We will also discuss the City's new Connect Beverly Hills project to develop a streetscape plan and design standards for Wilshire and La Cienega Boulevard in preparation for the upcoming Metro Purple Line Extension that will bring two new subway stations to Beverly Hills. The City is currently conducting outreach so this will be an important opportunity to provide stakeholder feedback.
Please come out for an important discussion about the California Tax on Commercial and Industrial Properties for Education and Local Government Funding Initiative, otherwise known as the "Split Roll" Initiative, which will be on the November 2020 ballot. This Proposition would undo the provisions of Proposition 13 as to many commercial properties and would tax property based on fair-market value rather than, under current law, the original purchase price plus inflation.
We will also have a presentation and discussion on the California Local Rent Control Initiative which would allow local governments to enact rent control on housing that was first occupied over 15 years ago.
We will have a number of other important update on local, state and federal legislation and developments as well as other important news from the community.
We will also save time to hear from our members with their questions and input.
Please join us!
