The Friends of Greystone Proudly Present a Lecture and Book Signing with Marc Appleton, Bret Parsons and Steve Vaught

, the Friends of Greystone are delighted to present Marc Appleton, Bret Parsons, Steve Vaught and the book, “Gordon B. Kaufmann, Master Architects of Southern California 1918 – 1941
.” Join these authors as they share their knowledge on one of the most gifted architects to leave his mark in Southern California. Before the presentation, a light buffet lunch will be served in the Mansion’s Living Room. Parking is complimentary and guests are welcome to tour the first floor of the Mansion.
Born in England, Gordon B. Kaufmann arrived in the United States practically penniless. Within a few short years, he would rise to prominence as one of the finest architects on the West Coast, with commissions ranging from Greystone Mansion, to the Los Angeles Times Building, to Hoover Dam. “Gordon B. Kaufmann, Master Architects of Southern California 1918 – 1941,” is the first in a series of twelve volumes about Southern California’s remarkable residential architects.
Appleton is an architect with a master’s degree from the Yale School of Architecture. Parsons is a realtor and architectural director of Coldwell Banker Southern California. Vaught is an architectural historian who specializes in Southern California architectural and social history.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of Greystone. Founded in 2001 and comprised solely of volunteers, the Friends of Greystone is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise funds to restore, preserve and protect Doheny Greystone Estate, owned by the City of Beverly Hills and considered to be among California’s most luxurious residences south of Hearst Castle. Included in our goals is to provide educational programs to students, residents of Beverly Hills, and the general public. All funds raised go exclusively to the benefit of Doheny Greystone Estate.
