Leading commercial bank positions for growth in San Diego and Los Angeles with four new hires and promotion of industry veteran

(San Diego, CA. – February 23, 2016) – Torrey Pines Bank today announced the hiring and promotion of several key executives as it focuses on strategic growth and increasing sustainable revenue in the San Diego and Los Angeles markets. Torrey Pines Bank is focused on increasing its market share by offering innovative financial solutions and providing unequalled customer service through its experienced team of financial professionals.
Crystal Sargent, who previously held the position of senior vice president, director of marketing has been named senior vice president, director of sales management and business development. In this newly created position, she will be responsible for the development of strategic plans and functional support across all regional offices that align with accelerated revenue and market share growth. She will provide strategic counsel to the CEO and the executive management team while developing the bank’s discipline for revenue-center planning that reflects overarching business objectives, resulting in high-level client acquisition and satisfaction. Crystal has been with Torrey Pines Bank for over 10 years, playing a crucial role in elevating the reputation and visibility of Torrey Pines Bank in the San Diego and Los Angeles markets. Crystal serves on several local boards, including the Old Globe Theatre and the Alzheimer’s San Diego and is also chair of the San Diego chapter of the Alumni Association for Illinois Institute of Technology, where she earned a master’s degree in business and marketing communications.  In May 2015 she was honored with a San Diego Metro Magazine “Woman Who Impact San Diego” award.
Sharon Trapolino has joined Torrey Pines Bank as vice president, treasury management sales officer and draws on over 35 years of banking industry experience. She will work from the Carlsbad Branch at 2760 Gateway Road, where she will be focused on providing customized treasury management and deposit solutions to help business owners achieve their business goals. Sharon has been recognized with several local awards including the San Diego Metro Magazine “Women Who Impact San Diego” and the Hemet Chamber of Commerce Business “Woman of the Year”. She is involved in numerous local non-profit organizations including the Hemet Rotary Club, president of the Hemet Chamber of Commerce and was the Gala Committee Chair for the Girl Scouts of America and Elderhelp.
Albert Motola has joined Torrey Pines Bank as vice president, relationship manager. He draws on over 20 years of banking experience and will work from the Symphony Towers branch located at 750 B Street, Suite 100 in San Diego. In his new positon, Albert will be responsible for helping to grow market share in San Diego by furthering dedication to providing excellent service to customers looking to work with a bank with deep financial capacity and industry expertise. Albert attended University of California-San Diego before transferring to Ashford University where he received a degree in business economics. He is a member of the Education Committee for San Diego Financial Literacy Center, which empowers individuals and families to make sound financial decisions and develop positive financial habits for life.
Alex Hu has joined Torrey Pines Bank as vice president, senior relationship manager and brings over 20 years of commercial banking experience to clients in the Kearny Mesa office, located at 9280 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard in San Diego. He began his banking career in China in 1992 and has since held several high-level banking positions working with San Diego area business owners. His previous experience will suit him well in developing customized business and banking solutions for those needing business banking, treasury management, commercial lending and real estate financing solutions. Alex received an MBA, Global Management/Cross Culture Business from the University of Phoenix-San Diego, and graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School in Seattle, Washington, concentrating on programs for senior officers in banking. Alex is a Rotarian, current director and past president of the Rotary Club of Kearny Mesa, San Diego.

Maria Ruppert–Pappas joined Torrey Pines Bank as vice president, senior real estate loan officer and will work from the downtown Los Angeles office at 601 West 5th Street, Suite 100.  Maria has over 15 years of banking and lending experience. She will be responsible for the acquisition and management of business client relationships by providing commercial real estate and business loans, lines of credit, treasury management and deposit solutions to help clients reach their business goals. Maria graduated from GE school of Business and attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. She previously served as secretary of the Robinson Elementary Educational Fund, a member of N.A.W.B.O. (National Association of Women Business Owners). She also volunteered and supported Junior Achievement, the 2014 Nisei Festival in Japan town and volunteers at an Orange County Community Animal Shelter.
