The LOS ANGELES PREMIERE of THE ICE-BREAKER, DAVID RAMBO’S dauntless take on the biggest crisis we face today - global warming - on May 12, 2010 in Theatre 40’s Reuben Cordova Theatre on the Beverly Hill’s High School Campus.
Both a compelling science play and a love story - THE ICE-BREAKER centers on the lives of two scientists. Dr Lawrence Blanchard, once a top researcher on the effects of global warming on the Antarctic climate is now living in self imposed exile in the Arizona desert. Blanchard’s testimony before the Congressional Global Warming Commission had been altered and his research discredited to protect the oil companies. After a devastating personal crisis - Blanchard was ''taken off the ice'' - having been discovered wandering Wright Valley, Greenland - naked - searching for God. Sonia, a young PhD student and brilliant academic completing her thesis on climatology, arrives in the desert in search of Lawrence whose research work on polar ice inspired Sonia’s work. When the two meet, sexual and intellectual sparks fly, but in the course of one sleepless night, both learn that their romantic attraction is as volatile and mysterious as the potential climate change they fear.
DAVID RAMBO (Playwright)'s one-woman play about Ann Landers THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS recently opened off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre starring Judith Ivey. Other plays include GOD'S MAN IN TEXAS (ranked 10th place as the most produced play in regional theatres in the U.S.), THE ICE-BREAKER, THE SPIN CYCLE, THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOUSE (a farce which enjoyed a long successful L.A. run at the Matrix and the Zephyr), a new adaptation of Sinclair Lewis' BABBITT and an all-new book for the classic Lerner and Loewe musical PAI
