Government Affairs Committee Meeting
Please come out for our May Government Affairs Committee meeting where we will be discussing a fresh slate of interesting issues!
We will discuss the latest news on potential laws that would prohibit the sale of fur and alligator/crocodile skin sales in California. This is an issue that significantly impacts our business community. The Chamber is opposed to a ban on the sale of these items and is working with stakeholders on this important issue. Please come out to learn more about these efforts and how you can get involved.
The City is looking at a potential policy prohibiting the sale of tobacco products. We will have an update on the status of this issue and discussion.
Senate Bill 50 (Wiener) is a bill that would increase residential housing density near transit lines and place restrictions on the ability of cities to limit development in such areas. As such, the bill could have an important impact on land use planning in cities such as Beverly Hills and beyond. Please come out for an important presentation on this bill from a variety of perspectives.
We will be receiving an important update about construction on Section 2 of the LA Metro Purple Line Subway, which includes a stop at Wilshire Blvd. and Reeves Drive. Construction is expected to intensify in 2019 and there are many important elements local businesses should be aware of.
We will be discussing the California Consumer Privacy Act, legislation passed last year by the California Legislature. The Act has significant impacts on privacy and on business reporting requirements and we will have a presentation and discussion on this important item.
This meeting will be an excellent opportunity to interact with key officials and learn about the important issues impacting our City and region and to provide your input! Please join us!
