Government Affairs Committee Meeting
The Government Affairs Committee meets monthly and is an opportunity for Chamber members to learn about developments in and around Beverly Hills and to provide your input on them. We will hear a presentation from representatives of the advocacy group Save Lives California about a ballot measure on the November 2016 ballot called the "California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tobacco Tax." The ballot measure proposes to place a sales tax of $2 on tobacco products to raise funds for treatment and cures of tobacco related illnesses. Josh Kurpies, District Director for California Assemblyman Richard Bloom, will provide an update on the important policy issues being discussed in our Assembly District and in Sacramento. And Ashley Dominguez of the Office of Congressman Ted Lieu will be providing an update on current legislative issues before Congress.
